Turntabling at the Proms

I haven’t made it to a Radio3 Prom this summer, much like other summers. One I particularly regret not seeing is last Saturday’s Prokofiev-Britten-Prokofiev programme. That’s Gabriel Prokofiev, Benjamin Britten, and Sergei Prokofiev. Turns out Gabriel is in fact the grandson of the more famous Sergei, although they never met, and really we should more or less forget the connection as we enter the beguiling contemporary music world of Gabriel in Concerto for Turntables and Orchestra, with DJ Switch virtuosing on the turntables…Only a day left to listen again.
That’s the second time I’ve happened upon G.P’s music and been intrigued – I’ll be heading over to his website for some more in depth acquaintance soon.
